Worship possibilities

Ever thought about worshipping during the week?

We are investigating the possibility of offering a Thursday evening worship service during the summer and early fall months. Our investigation is prompted by inquiries from people who desire a worship service during the week because they often travel on the weekends during the summer months or have work obligations.

Preliminary plans include a traditional-blend service that incorporates traditional-based music and liturgy form (similar to our Advent and Lenten services) in a casual atmosphere. This service will be held Thursdays in the Sanctuary at 6:30 p.m. from June through October. The message would be preached live and would be the message prepared for the upcoming weekend services.

In order to properly plan and coordinate this worship opportunity, we need 100 missionaries to commit to this worship service by identifying Thursday evening as their time to worship (at least 70-80 percent of the time). Also, we need individuals who will serve in some capacity. At this point we would like to have the following ministry partners:

• hospitality (greeters, ushers and Welcome Center helpers)
• worship (instrumentalists and vocalists)
• production (sound and screen technicians)

Please note, if you are not trained in any of these areas, no problem, we would love to train you!

If you are interested, please fill out a commitment card today. If there is not enough interest to commit to worshipping on Thursday evening by May 17, we will not offer this service.

Worship Opportunities

We desire to worship God with our entire being, so we encourage you to explore the many worship opportunities at Gloria Dei.

Educational Times: We encourage families to worship together, so we make it conducive by inviting children to educational times on Saturdays at 5:50 p.m.; and Sundays at 9:20 and 10:50 a.m.

Northwind Contemporary in the Family Life Center
Discover reflection and celebration at this casual Saturday evening worship service. Communion will be offered the second and fourth Saturdays of every month.

7:45 a.m. Sunday
Traditional Worship in the Sanctuary
This worship service uses organ and piano-led hymns as well as responsive liturgy. Our special music groups also perform on a regular basis. Communion will be offered the first and third Sundays of the month.

9:00 a.m. Sunday
Traditional Blend Worship in the Sanctuary
This worship service uses organ and piano-led hymns and songs as well as responsive liturgy. Our special music groups also perform on a regular basis. Communion will be offered the first and third Sundays of the month.

10:30 a.m. Sunday
H3 (Worship with your Head, Heart and Hands)
Young Family Contemporary Worship in the Family Life Center
This casual service offers an atmosphere in which families are encouraged to worship together. Expect lively praise music, puppets and themed family activities. A pastor will lead the service, and the message will be a simulcast from Saturday night's service. Communion is offered the second and fourth Sundays of every month.

Contemporary Worship in the Sanctuary
Join us in the Sanctuary for high-energy and reflective worship that is awe-inspiring. Communion will be offered the first and third Sundays of every month.

Musical Offering

Get involved!

We are passionate about getting everyone involved in our music. Take some time and review all the opportunities and then check us out. If you would like to sing, play an instrument or bells, please contact Steve Kowbel at 276-1700.

If you are interested in performing a song for worship, please fill out the form at least two weeks before the desired date. If you are unsure of a date or song enter "any" in the appropriate blanks.

Specific Musical Opportunities

Gloria Dei Chorale
Love variety? This choir will sing 1-2 times a month. If interested or for rehearsal times, plese contact Gale Webb.

Gloria Dei’s Alleluia Ringers
If you have an interest in bells or are an experienced bell ringer, please contact Brad Gage.

Gloria Dei Worship Bands
Do you like the contemporary sound? Can you play acoustic or electric guitar, keys, drums or any other instrument? If so, contact Steve Kowbel to set up a meeting to discuss ways to plug in.

Worship Vocalists
Do you have a passion for contemporary worship? Is your heart moved through song? We are looking for individuals to work as a team to engage each other and the congregation in worship. If interested, contact Penny Schramm to set up a meeting.

The Arts: Drama, Painting Stage Design and Puppets
If you love the arts, we have a place for you. Whether you like drama or the visual arts, we are looking for creative and talented individuals who will add the art element to our worship experience. If you are interested, contact Steve Kowbel.

Production Ministry
The Technical Team exists for the sole purpose of investing ourselves in a ministry that will directly support and reinforce anything and everything that goes forth from this church requiring lighting, audio, video, graphics, and any other technical or stage support, in a manner pleasing to God and providing better reception and understanding by all those touched by our efforts.

Production/Technical Arts opportunities include projection, audio, video, camera operator, audio recording and technical support.
